Self-Piercing Riveting System

Self-Piercing Riveting System

Wednesday 06 April 2016
Self-piercing rivet bonding construction is used by major vehicle manufacturers including Audi, Jaguar, Land Rover, BMW and now also Ford with the new generation F-150. The Power-TEC riveting system (part numbers 92385 and 92386) offers a convenient, easy to use, but very powerful solution for the body panel repair of these vehicles.

Powered by a pneumatic hydraulic pump the system delivers a massive 50 kilonewtons of force that easily and very smoothly pierces the top panel and forms the rivet within the lower panel but does not penetrate it, leaving a flush rivet head. As there is no heat generated in the process the method can be safely used on ultra high strength steels and boron steels without weakening the steel. There is also no damage to factory E-coat thus maintaining the vehicle’s corrosion warranty.

The Riveting System 92385 features a 35mm riveting head plus a selection of dies (for common rivet sizes) and consumable rivets. The Riveting System Plus 92386 includes the 35mm head plus 110mm and 220mm heads which offer much improved accessibility when rivets are situated away from the panel edges.
